Bossa Nova: Churrasquinho no Pão

Well I seem to be a sucker for a steak sandwhich lately. In todays truffle, I ordered from Bossa Nova, a Brazilian, Italian and Pizza joint on Sunset Blvd. On the menu it’s a Churrasquinho no Pão, but in reality, is a humble steak sandwhich.

The menu description reads:

Grilled skirt steak with mozzarella cheese, romaine lettuce, sliced tomatoes, mayo on toasted Italian bread.

Sounds pretty decent at least. Moving along tasting!

At first sight it’s a pretty intimidating sandwhich in size, but looks quite appetizing. Ater the first bite it was a bit lacking in the flavor department. Easily solved however. Let me start by saying I use ketchup on just about everything, it’s nature’s gift to me personally. Naturally they didn’t provide any, so I scoured the fridge only to find my good friends from In-N-Out.

Bossa Nova: Churrasquinho no Pão

Oh man, a little dabble-dooo-ya of ketchup and I was back in business. The cheese and mayonnaise on this bad boy are just exquisite, and the bread was quite nice, thick and firm. These elements add such a great dimension to all steak sandwhiches, and this was no exception. My rule of thumb is you can NEVER have too much mayonnaise, and these guys seemed to know my style. Kudos.

Now truthfully, I’d like to say this is an amazing, above average steak sandwhich, but it’s not. It’s just an average steak sandwhich, not the super human goodness that one would find at Aero Market on Victory Blvd. Some bites were amazingly tough and hard to rip off, but hey, if the guys at Midevil Times can do it, so can I right? Right! All in all it’s a half decent sandwhich for the buck, and it’s huge. The only thing left was some stray lettuce, a chunk is discarded bread and the many, many, many, ketchup packets that I had comsumed.

Final Judging:
Speed of Service: Good
Appealment of Food: Good
Food Taste: Good

Final Words:
This gets a nice 0 on the scale, which is dead nuts average. Not bad, not great, but just right. Bossa Nova seems to offer a wide range of great food, so I’d at least recommend checking them out if you’re in the area.

Happy eating,
